city breaks

Since arriving in Bangkok, I’ve been shooting primarily with my film camera and my iPhone. My DSLR is just so heavy with all the walking and motorbiking we do. The first time I took my DSLR out with me was during a midday work break to Chatuchak park. I wanted to try riding the BTS on my own (their great sky train system), so I did one of those random finger points at the map and ended up near this large park towards the end of the line. Chatuchak is a typical Thai park, full of old men “working out,” joggers, young families sprawled out along the water’s edge, hidden meditation corners, swan boats. It took me a few hours to walk it in its entirety. Parks like this are so important in the middle of a city. I am already itching for some wilderness, but I suppose until I can get out into the wild, I’ll pop into one of the many huge parks here and pretend.
