run through the jungle

Is that CCR reference obvious enough? Are you singing it in your head right now? Good, because it’s stuck in mine. Every once and awhile it blends into Born on the Bayou, but none of their songs are really great to be humming and table-drumming to in a quiet co-working space. But I digress…

A few months ago, I participated in my second half marathon. This time, I found myself running through the vine-covered ruins of Angkor Wat. My roommate Emily and I took the train from Bangkok (I must say, that was a mistake) and stayed in Siem Reap for two nights. With the addition of a half marathon to your weekend getaway, there’s not too much time for exploring or indulging in an excess of beers, but we managed to complete the run (under my goal time, #humblebrag!), spend the afternoon and evening revisiting the temples we had ran past that morning, and even take in a Cambodian circus.

I don’t think I’ll be joining in another long distance race while living in Southeast Asia, however. IT IS SO HOT HERE YOU GUYS.

This will be on of the last posts on depaysement. I am moving over to my new creative outlet, Elsewhere. We’re kind of in a “soft-opening” kind of phase at the moment, but it should be full force in the near future. So much love and thanks to those of you who read/look/take notice of the things I post here. I think you will enjoy the new venture even more.
